Sentiments as we confront demanding months ahead, yet again. The outlook is good with new findings showing we are 25% less likely to die of the virus than in March of this year (recent figures from Il Corriere.it), and the success of several new vaccines due for distribution mid January. From my window looking out on a beautiful fall day I am surrounded by the spring and summer artistic output stacking the walls. With winter fast approaching, the outlook is grim for social interaction, events and a life that up ’til now we have taken for granted.

The headline says it all. I did not set out to discover this, but through twists of fate and directional choice I landed onto (I think) a simplistic way of understanding and of bridging divides.

Based on a love of archeology and history and delving into past cultures for artistic inspiration it became clear that disparities have existed since the beginning of time. Where once the earth had a matriarchal society, over time a transition occurred via discovery and new beliefs into a patriarchal dominated world. Fast forward — today very little has changed. Some of us have difficulty interpreting and understanding why disparities still exist in this day and age — be they economic, ethnic, religion or gender based . . . I certainly do. Growing up in North America, Africa and Europe my siblings and I were exposed at an early age to amazing diversity. A convergence of ideas, customs and backgrounds for acceptance and true “knowing.”
